Common questions
Can we use the cards we already issue?
Where the card can be read, yes. We check the type during the demo; where it cannot be, a new card or the face reader covers the same ground and the hardware can be changed later rather than first.
Does face recognition replace the staff at the gate?
No. It records the entry so the people at the gate are watching the gate instead of writing names. Who may come in stays a decision made by a person.
What if a relative the school has never met comes to collect a child?
The gate sees the guardians on record with their photographs. Anybody else needs the office to authorise the pickup, and that authorisation is kept against the child.
Is a visitor’s record kept afterwards?
Yes — time in, time out, purpose and who they met — so a day can be read back weeks later without depending on anyone’s memory.
